Jerusalem, God’s chosen city. I don’t know why God chose Jerusalem as His city. God could have chosen any place on earth as His city. Why Jerusalem? I don’t know. But it was chosen. Jerusalem would be known as His city, His dwelling place.

In 2 Chronicles, Solomon talks about Jerusalem. Verse 5-6 says God told David that since the day He brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, “he chose no city” in which to build his house. “Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there…” God chose this place for his people and He said that He would hear the people when they prayed “toward this place.” I was moved by the love that God has for Jerusalem. God chose this city for his people. Then in verse 32 it says, “Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel, but has come from a far country for the sake of your great name and Your mighty hand and Your outstretched arm, when they come and pray in the temple; then hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You that all peoples of the earth may know your name and fear You as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name.” This is our prayer for these students. That they will know His name and that they will carry this message through out all of the earth.

I think this opportunity for them to go to this place will help instill in them a stronger faith. I want them to be assured that Jesus walked on this earth. They will see some of the same things that Jesus saw. They will walk where Jesus walked. They will eat in the same city where King David ate. They will experience walking in those very same places. We are going to the promised land.

God loves Jerusalem and we will be in his loving care while we are there.

We will write on this blog during our trip. We enjoy writing about the food and the places we visit and what the students are doing. We will also upload some pictures.

We hope that you will comment and let us know what you think!
