Meet Sassafras, our Australian Shepherd puppy.

We took Remmy, one of our horses, to a trainer and left him there for about a month.  There was a litter of these cute little puppies at the barn.  Every time Meredith went to ride she spent some time playing with these little guys.

She was so little.

We finally brought her home when she was about 7 weeks old.  She had barely been outside of the barn.  She got busy exploring around our place.

She is keeping things stirred up at our house but we are hoping she will be a great farm dog.  This breed was developed to serve on a farm with livestock.  Aussies are typically intelligent, eager to please, and have a strong desire to be with their favorite people.  They are sometimes called “velcro dogs” because they stick so closely to their people.  I am hoping to be her “favorite people.”

She’s growing fast and venturing out in the yard and around the farm more now.  Sometimes she hangs out with Rocky.

Sometimes she follows after Nova.

Sometimes she gets tired and just plops down wherever she happens to be.

Sometimes she has to learn things the hard way.

My roses are blooming like crazy and the branches are weighed down so much that they nearly touch the ground.

Sassy couldn’t resist.

Some things may take awhile to learn, but she is really good at coming when she’s called.

Wish us luck!

I hope you have a great day!
